Default Armbarces vs Ectos

Come on!

Why is it what the price on Ectos is going up but amoung of ectoes for an Armbarces is not going down..

Thats lame .. or is it just me?

then the price on e's was 4.5k u could get an armbrace for 50e

Now that the price is 6.5k u still cant get an armbrace for under 50e .. (48e)

sad panda :/

The more expensive the ectos are, the more value they represent within the ecomomy, therefore, the price of armbraces (give in ectoes) should go down.

But to answer the OP, I think people simply don't care about the prices of braces. If an armbrace cost 48 ectos yesterday, it does today, too, no matter that the price of ectoes went up in the meantime.

I've wondered about this too. It seems many items have a value of a set amount of ectos, not the amount of money those ectos represent and changing in the amount of ectos according to variable ecto prices.

The price of Ambraces didnt change cuz PvE players are greedy and they want more and more and more. But when the price of Ectos drops again...once again the ammout of e needed for an ambrace will go up. Thats the problem with the economy in Guild Wars. Do what most power traders do, keep spamming WTB Ecto 40-42e and eventually other will see and ask for the same. Eventually no one will buy them for more. Thats how noob PvE power traders messed up ZKey prices, well and RR noobs in HB(which is BS cuz now HB is gone).

The price of ectos is only going up right now because so many people are afraid of big changes to the UW. A lot of people suddenly have a higher demand because of a perceived future scarcity, which may or may not be well founded. By this time next week, ectos could very well be trading at 4.5k or so again. The price of high end items, like armbraces, will be much less subject to change than ectos. Why should anyone lower the number of ectos for an armbrace if next week those ectos are expected to be worth less?

The price of ectos is higher at the moment than is justified really. If you remember prices around and shortly before the time of perma form's existence, ectos were pretty regularly going for 4.7-5k. Regardless of what changes are made to kill off UWSC, there will still be a host of other reliable ecto farming techniques (unless of course they shut down the entire UW... unlikely in my opinion... and even then people would still have Tooooooooombs to farm from).

If you recall, armbrace prices have dropped a great deal in the last few years, mostly because of the relative ease of obtaining ectos.

Armbraces are "worth" whatever people will pay for them. There is no Trader to set any sort of price for them.

That. As long as somebody pays 50e for an armbrace, thats what people sell them for.

Ecto's are always limited in price by the material trader; to high/low and people will prefer to use the trader instead.
Armbraces are limited by the ammount available and the demand; as long as people pay the price thats what they are valued at.

Agree, Armbraces aren't worth 40-42e now. I have had no problems selling for 48e at all. If you look, most people are still trying to buy for 45e, so your claim of 40-42e is just wrong.

Honestly, a post on Guru won't change the prices. The people that work to get armbraces decide what they'll sell for and that's about it. I've been selling my braces for 46-48 most of the time, but if I go out and say WTS Armbrace for 48e and I get plenty of offers quickly. I've also had people offering 50e for an armbrace half the time so to me it seems like some of the buyers just want to get their item and be done with it.

there hasn't been enough time to adjust. and we still don't know if this volatile change in ecto prices is just temporary or if it will remain permanent.

This all comes down to 2 simple theories of Human Behavior.

1) People are stupid.
2) People are Lazy and that makes them stupid.

So here I was trying to buy an Everlasting tonic for 350K and I say to the dude, hey buddy here is 70 ectos. He is like no way I want 88 ectos. I am like forget that...

What about if I sell it to you for Lockpicks and then buy the lock picks back. He is like? That sounds stupid. I said Stupid is as stupid does and explained to him that I can not trade more than 100K at a time.

We agreed that 100K = 80 picks at 1250g, the going rate always cause there is a fixed value to the picks. So I traded 280 lockpicks for the Everlasting Tonic. Then I bought back the lockpicks in bunches of 100K for 80 of them.

The guy said after the trade, Ectos are 19 for 100K now! You ripped me off!!!
I was like??? Did you not want 350K for the tonic??? Did I not give you 350K for a tonic? So what's the big deal? He said it should have been 88 Ectos. I said that's rippig me off you stupid person.

So as you can see Ectos should not be used to trade stuff..it should be Lockpicks as they have a steady value. But there are stupid people that will comment that my idea is just stupid.

In my way you could trade 7 stacks of lockpicks for a fixed value of 312,500K pre stack or a total of 2,187,500 gold + 100K for 2.2 Million gold a trade..so um what is worth that much?

The price of armbraces always seem to lag behind a little. Ectos will level out and the economy will adjust. Always seems to.

The obvious problem with your idea is that if the trade goes tits-up then one person is left with this massive amount of lockpicks to sell on.

Not a major problem, but it's a lot more inconvenient than being left with stacks of ecto, which are already the staple currency for 100k+ trades.

(And there's plenty of mini pets and 2 everlasting tonics that are worth more than 2.2 million gold)

It is a great idea but people controlling the economy (aka those with stacks of ectos) will never agree to that

Most items that are mainly traded in ectos had their prices in ectos unchanged or not adjusted correctly according to the ecto price rise. The prices WILL ofcourse balance with time, even armbraces should be worth less ectos now, for the simple fact that gemstone sets price in gold hasn't changed in the last weeks.
